This large split-site school draws pupils from an area of significant social and economic disadvantage. The number of pupils eligible for free school meals is more than double the national average. The proportion of pupils with learning difficulties and/or disabilities is almost three times the average. The school has a Special Needs Nursery Unit for 10 children and an IRU for 15 pupils, split between Key Stages 1 and 2. Most pupils are of White British heritage with fewer pupils than average from minority ethnic backgrounds. A small but increasing proportion of pupils speak languages other than English at home. The school has achieved the following awards: Healthy Schools; Artsmark Bronze; and Investor in People.
