This is a smaller than average-sized secondary school. The school was relaunched in September 2007 and has made rapid gains since then. In 2010 90% of students gained 5 GCSEs (42% including English and Mathematics). In 2009 the school was named as the most improved High school in the region for both results and attendance and in 2010 the school received a national award for value added results, placing it in the top 3% nationally. Demand for places at Loreto is high and one of the key factors in the school's popularity is the unique two teacher model that Loreto offers. In year 7, students have a personal Learning Tutor who remains with the class for most of their time. For part of the day the class is then joined by a subject specialist who drives the curriculum content, to help ensure that students remain on task and on target. The combination of security and learning focus, that the two teacher model offers, ensures a smoother transition and remarkable student progress for all students.
