Green Wrythe School is an average-sized primary school. The proportion of pupils entitled to free school meals is above the national average. Over three quarters of pupils are of White British origin, the rest coming from a wide range of minority ethnic groups. Although an increasing number of pupils come from minority ethnic backgrounds, few of them are in the very early stages of learning English as an additional language. The proportion of pupils with learning difficulties and/or disabilities is over the national average. Many of these pupils have either moderate, or behavioural, emotional and social learning, difficulties and some struggle with speech, language and communication. Despite this standards are good and pupils make good progress.
In addition, there are 42 pupils in the Rainbow department which is attached to the school for those with moderate autistic spectrum disorder. The current headteacher joined the school on a full-time basis at the start of the summer term 2009. In the Ofsted Inspection July 2009 Leadership and Management was deemed Good, as were many other factors including Partnership with parents.
We are very proud to belong to Green Wrythe Community, do come and visit.
