King Edward VII is a specialist technology college, a status granted in September 1998. It combines a former 11-14 high school and a 14-19 upper school following amalgamation in September 1999. In September 2004 it was designated as a training school. It is much larger than the average sized secondary school with a large sixth form. Around 95% of the students are from White British backgrounds and there are very few students from minority ethnic groups.
