Skinner Street Primary School

This large primary school serves a mixed and increasingly diverse community. The proportion of pupils eligible for free school meals is above the national average. The great majority of pupils are of White British origin, but there are growing numbers from other groups such as Black African, Asian and Asian British, other White background and mixed White and Black Caribbean. About one in ten pupils speak English as an additional language, but few are at the early stages of acquisition. The proportion of pupils with learning difficulties and/or disabilities is well above average and the figure for those with a statement of special educational needs is average. A significant number of pupils enter or leave the school at times other than the start or end of the school year.
