Penhale is located in an inner-city setting within Portsmouth. The area is one of relativesocio-economic disadvantage. Although this presents challenges formaintenance, the school has the advantage of offering some large teaching roomswhich are appreciated by staff and pupils. The buildings are decorated in a bright,welcoming, style and although it does not benefit from natural green areas, the schoolhas succeeded well in creating some in its playgrounds.
