This school is a one form entry primary school. Standards are higher than national average at key stage 1 and in line with national averages at key stage 2. Attainment on admission is generally below that expected of four year olds but the children very quickly make good progress and for the last 2 years (2010 and 2009) the value added score for the school has been 101 and 100.5. The proportion of pupils with learning difficulties and disabilities is in line with the national average, as is the proportion entitled to free school meals. The school was satisfactory with many good elements in the last Ofsted inspection (October 2009) and the school has just been awarded the Basic Skills Quality Mark - an achievement that less than half of Thurrock Primary School have gained. The children at the school behave well and as a small school they all know each other and look after each other. Chadwell St Mary Primary School is a friendly, warm and welcoming school with improving standards.
