Shavington High School is smaller than average in size. The vast majority of students are of White British backgrounds. Few students do not have English as their first language. The proportion of students entitled to a free school meal is lower than average. The proportions with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and with a statement of special educational need, match the national picture. The numbers of students joining or leaving the school other than at year end is relatively high. Shavington is in its fourth year as a specialist science school with mathematics as a subsidiary subject.
