Due to popular demand, we have developed a new screen showing extra details about Ofsted reports and performance for every school. Here is an example page.
You can find this page by clicking on the ‘What does this mean?’ link just below the Ofsted rating on the school main page.
We have a new section covering school admissions appeals.
If you are worried about your child not being awarded a place at your preferred school, then find out more about the appeals process here.
Last night’s “Whilstblower” programme followed a journalist posing as a childcare professional. It reveals just how far a person with no experience or relevant qualifications can get in the world of childcare.
Check the Ofsted report for your nursery here.
The programme also includes a candid interview with a disgruntled Ofsted inspector. Well worth watching. You can see it online with BBC’s iPlayer.
Do you have a website with an educational theme? Now you can provide your website visitors with a “school search box” that you can easily include on any page of your website. Click here for details.
Many parents don’t realise that they can save up to £2,000 per year on their childcare costs.
You can find out more about childcare vouchers by clicking here.
We’ve developed a gadget for those of you who use the iGoogle home page. It will inform you of the most recent Ofsted inspections in your area as soon as they become available.

Every time that you visit your iGoogle home page, the gadget will update itself with all of the latest reports for your LEA. Click the Google button below to get the gadget:

Click here to see the list of establishments judged “Outstanding” by Ofsted in December.
It is often difficult to see the big picture when talking about Ofsted. So this is the first of a few posts that will take a broader look at the inspection judgements we have in our database. The following chart shows a summary of the 40,000 new-style Ofsted reports that have been published over the past 2 - 3 years:

The chart shows that there is a relatively small number of “Outstanding” nurseries and a relatively high number of “Inadequate” secondary schools. Also of note are the high number of establishments hovering around the “Satisfactory” grade.
The government’s secondary school league tables (based on exam performance) have been published for this year. These tables have been loaded into our database.
Just a reminder that our tables are based on Ofsted inspection results, not these exam results, to give you a fairer and more consistent view. We will only use exam results in the case where two schools have very similar inspection outcomes.
