October inspection stats
Monday, November 5th, 2007Every month we’ll provide a full analysis of all Ofsted inspections. We analysed 1,846 Ofsted reports in October. The numbers have been crunched and here are the details:
| Type | Outstanding | Good | Satisfactory | Inadequate |
| Nurseries and daycare |
67 (5%) | 847 (67%) | 291 (23%) | 61 (5%) |
| Primary schools | 63 (13%) | 259 (53%) | 153 (32%) | 11 (2%) |
| Secondary schools | 12 (13%) | 46 (49%) | 33 (35%) | 3 (3%) |
You may notice that the percentage of “outstanding” nurseries is 5%, compared to 13% of schools. Although when looking at the “outstanding” and “good” ratings combined, you can see that between 60-70% of all nurseries, primary schools and secondary schools meet the mark.
At the other end of the scale, you can see that 28% of Nurseries are “satisfactory” or “inadequate”. This is a significant improvement since 2006, when around 40% of nurseries fell into this category (See this statement by Ofsted). It will be interesting to see how this trend develops over the coming months.
